This pair of earrings has two hand-folded miniature paper cranes in turquoise, lacquered for strength and durability (very sturdy! Carefully lacquered paper maintains a bit of flex, so they’re reinforced but not brittle), arranged vertically with glass beads (copper and silver with one small turquoise accent bead, and the cranes perch atop a bigger, translucent light blue bead), on stainless steel hardware. The wingspan of each crane measures just shy of ¾" (super tiny!), and the bottom of the earring hangs just about 1.5" from the earlobe. Paper cranes are lightweight but substantial, and a few glass beads give these earrings a real good dangle.

It was one of those situations where half of the people tell you The Magic Madame lives in an abandoned barn at the end of a winding, derelict old road through the dense woods, and the other half of folks swear she is and has always been known to live in a glass box in the middle of a corn maze. Well, I obviously went with the winding old road before touring corn mazes, and as luck would have it, that road brought me straight to the start of a corn maze with an abandoned barn in the middle, and in that barn? A glass box containing The Torso of The Magic Madame. She stared from beneath her velvet turban through cataracts of dust at something slightly to my left. I was alarmed to see her heart seem to palpitate visibly through her shirt, but she waved one ancient hand as if to say, “it’s okay, all of this is normal,” and then dropped a small purple card and a pair of earrings into the box in front of her like a kind of a velveteen corn barn bank teller.
